This week it is all about building websites and planning for the Spring Equinox Workshop we are running this weekend. The Spring Equinox has long been celebrated as a time of rebirth in the Northern Hemisphere and so its interesting that I unintentionally chose this weekend to start running our work shops again.
Its been a long and hard winter and rather selfishly, I chose to run a workshop I fancied doing myself. I have always wanted to run a session with Yoga and Meditation combined in the way they were before the Western World separated them out. Yoga was originally designed to support the practice of meditation. I came to meditation first and yoga second, so I was always the person lying down at the end of the class loving every minute of the meditation. It would surprise me when people would start rolling up their mats and heading out because they couldn’t see the point in having the quiet time. Traditional Yoga opens up all your Chakras physically, gets the blood pumping and the energies flowing. The meditation at the end, then can add extra balance and can cleanse or unblock any chakra that is need of some extra TLC. Its important to pay as much attention to the mind as it is to the body. If you become to preoccupied with the physical fitness and the body you can find yourself getting easily irritated and uptight after class. Meditation helps get to the core, to open the heart and develelop a more stable, calm and balanced mind.
By combining yoga and meditation you learn to relax the body and the mind.
